UVSA Gulf Coast Summit | "Waterlines: Rise Above"

  • Loyola University 6363 Saint Charles Avenue New Orleans, LA, 70118 United States (map)

The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations Gulf Coast (UVSA Gulf Coast) is proud to present the Inaugural Leadership and Professional Development Summit at Loyola University in New Orleans, LA.

The Gulf Coast Summit is a gathering of young adults from the Vietnamese-American communities across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The purpose of Summit is to empower these young leaders with the right tools to develop themselves as leaders and professionals. Attendees will be able to experience motivational speakers, engage in educational workshops, network and participate in unity activities with other young leaders within and outside the Gulf Coast region, and more.

UVSA-GC’s Summit theme, "Waterlines: Rise Above," encourages attendees to remember and honor those leaders before us, while inspiring new ideas and taking action for their future. Waterlines are physical marks on homes after floods and hurricanes, which are common disasters and times of hardship throughout the region. In addition to our history, “waterlines” represent the past struggles and problems we may have faced. Yet, we always “rise above” the challenge and come out stronger and more resilient than ever before.

Early registration opens on Sunday, April 1st at 8 PM CDT. More information on the registration platform and how to register will be released within the week.

For our first Summit, we are incorporating a registration tier system, which is a model that designates a certain number of spots available per category (early, regular, late, waitlist). Once the last spot is filled in each category, Summit Registration Committee will prepare to open for the next category. Since the registration tier system does not have specific dates (ex. regular registration only will open when spots of early registration is filled), please keep an eye out for a post regarding the next round of registration on this event page.

- Regular registration ticket - $60.
- Late registration ticket - $70

Attendees will be housed in Carrollton Hall at Loyola University. Each room houses two people, and each room shares a bathroom and living room with the room next door.

The total cost will be $60 for two nights at Summit. Although lodging is not mandatory for attendees, we highly recommend everyone to be housed on campus.

Updates and announcements regarding Housing Registration will be announced on this page at a later date. When attendees register for housing, they will be able to choose their roommate and put a preference for neighbors that share the bathroom with them. Roommates must be of the same gender.
